Moondrop Aria Channel Imbalance

Posted by Aaron . on

Modern IEMs have high performance filters that are made from an advanced material that is designed to allow maximum frequency response in form of resonating waveform through air while providing maximum protection from contaminates that may enter the IEM chassis and degrading performance or permanently damage the delicate high precision drivers.  When moisture enters these filters the filter acts like a spung essentialy socking up the oils, & contaminants that they are designed to repel, resulting in the filters becoming blocked; and if not addressed quickly, leading to possible channel imbalance 'one side becoming quieter than the other'.  If you...

AUDIO CABLE SCIENCE

Posted by Aaron . on

(Kunchur, 2021) has recently published a peer reviewed article: 'Cable pathways between audio components can affect perceived sound' where he seeks to debunk controversial claims and contentious issues surrounding whether the cables and topology used to interlink components together make an audible difference and the disparity between anecdotal experiences reported by audiophiles and published formal scientific research.  Interesting read and can be found here: https://www.aes.org/e-lib/browse.cfm?elib=21109  Enjoy 👍 Reference Kunchur, M. "It was kindly provided to us by Bondline to reference".  At A.L.A Audio we are currently working on several products in R&D that focus on reducing ground noise in the hi-fi chain, and let me tell you, so far the results are staggering and need to be seen to be believed!. More to come very soon! enjoy the article.  How Good is Your Ground.PDF

How to play fully unfolded MQA files on i2s enabled DACS

Posted by Aaron . on

Please see instructions below on how to play MQA files on a non MQA enabled Denafrips Venus II (possibly other LVDS enabled  DACs with testing currently being done)   The SMSL DP5 streamer/DAC with balanced LVDS I2S output sends a fully unfolded MQA signal that can then interface to an external DAC with balanced LVDS I2s input; and in the below example a Denafrips Venus II; the standard HDMI cable pinout works fine with L/R channels in phase.  See image below, the DAC is being fed a 24bit 44K track, the Venus II indicates that the full unfold has been received...
